A workshop to expand export markets for Myanmar onion and improve cultivation, organized by the Department of Trade Promotion, held at the Mandalay Mayor April 8.
Minister of Planning and Economy, U Aung Zan in Mandalay Region delivered an opening speech, while the U Soe Myint General Director of the department spoke about the expansion of markets and the development of the harvest onion.
Chairman of Myanmar onion, garlic and kitchen cropsand Exporters Association officials discussed culture in the regions of Mandalay, Magway and Sagaing.

Deputy Head of the Mandalay Region Cooperative Department Daw Nu Nu Win said the formation of cooperative societies of production and the disbursement of loans to farmers.
The leaders discussed the growing techniques of onion plants, pests and germs, the food onion added value and market prospects for Myanmar onions.
Myanmar exported 35,358 tons of onions to India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia and China for the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
